Sibiny Lakes and Culture: International Program Participants Discover the Nature and Traditions of Kazakhstan
On May 20, 2026, participants of the international internship program “Cumberland–KAFU History and Culture Exchange Program” visited the Sibinskie Lakes, one of the most picturesque natural destinations in Eastern Kazakhstan.
The trip was part of the cultural and educational program of Kazakhstan-American Free University aimed at introducing international students and faculty members to the natural wealth, traditions, and national culture of Kazakhstan.
During the excursion, the guests became acquainted with the natural features of the region, admired the unique mountain landscapes and lakes, and took part in an ethnocultural program. Participants were introduced to a traditional Kazakh yurt, national cuisine, and elements of traditional Kazakh lifestyle and customs.
The students had the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the culture of the nomadic people, learn about traditions of hospitality, the особенности of national cuisine, and the way of life of the Kazakh people. The program also included outdoor activities and communication in an informal atmosphere.
The visit to the Sibinskie Lakes became one of the brightest events of the international internship, giving participants unforgettable impressions of the nature of Eastern Kazakhstan and allowing them to experience the national spirit and cultural identity of the country more deeply.
