“Striving for Excellence”: KAFU Hosts a Large-Scale Regional English Language Olympiad
On April 17, 2026, the Kazakh-American Free University once again became a magnet for talented youth in East Kazakhstan. Today, the annual regional team English language Olympiad, “Striving for Excellence,” was held.
The Olympiad brought together students in grades 9–11 from East Kazakhstan schools and first- and second-year students from technical and vocational education institutions, who demonstrated a high level of proficiency in the language of international communication.
This is the 19th time that KAFU has held this English language Olympiad, confirming the university’s reputation as a center for international partnership.
The Olympiad program traditionally includes a vocabulary and grammar test and a speaking section, where participants discuss assigned topics and express their team opinions.
Winners and runners-up were eligible to apply for educational grants from KAFU President Yerezhep A. Mambetkaziyev and discounts on tuition in the Department of Foreign Languages’ educational programs.

“Striving for Excellence” is not just a knowledge test; it is a platform for creative self-expression and the development of the skills necessary for 21st-century leaders, according to the organizers.
