Students and Faculty from the University of the Cumberlands (USA) Visit the Ak Baur Nature Reserve and the East Kazakhstan Regional Museum of Local History
On May 18, 2026, as part of the international internship program at Kazakhstan-American Free University, students and faculty members from the University of the Cumberlands (USA) visited the Ak Baur natural complex and the East Kazakhstan Regional Museum of Local History.
The field trip to Ak Baur, located outside Ust-Kamenogorsk, gave participants an opportunity to explore the unique natural landscapes of Eastern Kazakhstan, learn about the region’s history, and become familiar with the local flora and fauna. The guests from the United States were able to immerse themselves more deeply in the cultural and historical heritage of Kazakhstan, see natural landmarks, and learn more about the traditions and past of the region.
After visiting the complex, the group returned to the city and headed to the East Kazakhstan Regional Museum of Local History, where they took part in the cultural event “Night at the Museum.” Participants explored museum exhibitions, interactive installations, and historical artifacts reflecting the rich heritage of Eastern Kazakhstan.
Such events are an important part of the educational and cultural program of the international internship at KAFU. They contribute to the development of intercultural communication, broaden students’ perspectives, and strengthen partnership ties between Kazakhstan-American Free University and the University of the Cumberlands.
