The second lecture by an international expert on scientific publications at KASU once again attracted a large audience

On April 16, 2026, within the framework of the XVI International Forum of Young Scientists “Modern Scientific Directions: From Applied Research to Innovation,” the Kazakhstan-American Free University hosted the second guest lecture by international expert Daniel Brantes Ferreira on the topic: “Why Articles Are Rejected: An Editor’s Perspective from an International Journal.”

As a reminder, the speaker’s first lecture took place the day before and generated significant interest among students, master’s and doctoral students, faculty members, and young researchers. The continuation of the lecture series confirmed the relevance of the topic and the strong demand within the academic community for practical knowledge in the field of international academic publishing.

Daniel Brantes Ferreira is a Doctor of Law, Director General of the Brazilian Center for Arbitration and Mediation, and editor of the journal Brazilian Journal of Alternative Dispute Resolution. During the lecture, he explained in detail the most common reasons for manuscript rejection, the requirements of international journal editors, criteria for scientific novelty, the role of research methodology, and the proper structure of a manuscript.

This topic is of particular importance for Kazakhstan, where the system of research evaluation is actively developing, and requirements for publication activity, indexed journals, and the international visibility of research are increasing. For scholars, lecturers, doctoral and master’s students, publishing in international journals has become an essential part of professional development, academic careers, and the integration of domestic science into the global academic space.

Participants of the lecture received practical recommendations on preparing articles, going through the peer-review process, and interacting with editors of international journals. Such events strengthen the status of the Kazakhstan-American Free University as a platform for open dialogue, academic development, and international cooperation.
