VIII Regional Olympiad in Programming “Coding Skills” 

On April 3-4, 2025, the Business Department of the Kazakh-American Free University, together with Oskemen IT-Hub, held the VIII Regional Programming Olympiad “Coding Skills”!

The purpose of this event is to attract public attention to intellectual competitions among students of technical and vocational education organizations, popularize intellectual leadership and team spirit, improve the professional level of talented youth, develop the information technology industry of East Kazakhstan region, as well as test practical skills in programming and develop a creative approach to solving problems.

The following colleges took part in the Olympiad:

1. Higher IT College of D. Serikbayev EKTU

2. Altai Higher College

3. Humanitarian and Technical College

4. Ust-Kamenogorsk College of Economics and Technology

5. Higher College of S. Amanzholov EKU

6. Higher College of KAFU

7. Ust-Kamenogorsk Higher Polytechnic College

The Olympiad program included two rounds:

The first round — testing in the direction of “Information Communication Technologies”.

The second round — solving programming problems. 28 participants who successfully passed the first round and scored the highest points were admitted to the second round of the Olympiad.

In the second round, the participants were offered 5 programming problems of varying complexity: 2 problems from the easy category, 2 problems from the medium complexity category, and 1 problem from the difficult category. They were given 2.5 hours to solve the problems. The programming language was not limited, the participants chose it themselves.

Based on the results of the VIII Regional Programming Olympiad “Coding Skills” among students of colleges of the East Kazakhstan region, Roman A. Kachessov (Altai Higher College) was awarded a first-degree diploma and a certificate for training with a 30% discount on educational programs of the Business Department.

Timur R. Zhilov (Higher IT College of D. Serikbaev EKTU) was awarded a second-degree diploma and a certificate for training with a 20% discount on educational programs of the Business Department. Victoria D. Golovanova (Higher College of KAFU) was awarded a third-degree diploma and a certificate for training with a 10% discount on educational programs of the Department of Business.
