Winner of the International Russian Language Olympiad
Anastassiya Semenova, a fourth-year student in the Journalism and Reporting program, won the 13th International Russian Language Olympiad “Runitsa,” demonstrating a high level of language proficiency and professional competence, scoring 100 points out of 100 and taking a respectable first place!
During the Olympiad, participants answered questions covering various areas of the Russian language: spelling and punctuation, vocabulary and phraseology, norms of modern literary Russian, stylistics, and speech culture. The tasks required not only theoretical knowledge but also the ability to apply linguistic norms in practice, analyze text, and formulate thoughts accurately.
Anastassiya Semenova is a graduate of Altynsarin Secondary School No. 39 in Ust-Kamenogorsk. Winning the International Russian Language Olympiad is particularly significant because it directly impacts her future professional career. For a journalist, precise, literate, and expressive speech is not just a skill, but a crucial working tool, determining the quality of her reporting and the trust of her audience.
Participation in such competitions helps develop a keen sense of language, the ability to carefully work with text, attention to detail, and responsibility for each public statement—precisely the qualities required in both reportage and analytical journalism. Such intellectual competitions develop the ability to make quick decisions, convincingly defend one’s point of view, and confidently act in complex language situations, all of which are integral to a journalist’s daily work.
The International Russian Language Olympiad was held on the portal of the Federal Center for Information and Educational Resources in March 2026 under the auspices of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation. You can view the competition results at: http://erudyt.ru/
Congratulations to Anastassiya on her well-deserved victory and wish her continued success in her studies, creative work, and new achievements in international competitions and olympiads!
