KAFU Faculty Participates in an International Conference on Labor Law in the Gig Economy

On April 24, 2026, faculty members of the Kazakh-American Free University’s Department of Law and International Relations—Botagoz A. Umitchinova, PhD, Associate Research Professor, and Marzhan N. Tazhieva, Senior Lecturer—participated in an international scientific and theoretical conference on “Legal Regulation of Labor Relations in the Gig Economy,” organized by the Labor Law Sector of Tashkent State University of Law.
During the conference, views were exchanged on key issues, including the development of the gig economy, digitalization and platform employment, the presumption of labor relations, and algorithmic labor management. Particular attention was paid to the legal status of online platform workers, issues of digital discrimination, and compensation for harm to the workers’ life and health. The international conference was attended by a representative of the International Labor Organization in Uzbekistan, as well as scholars from universities in Japan, Turkey, Russia, and other countries. Participants exchanged academic views on current issues in modern labor law.
