KAFU Hosts Workshop on Designing an Individual Development Pathway

On September 29, 2026, Kazakhstan-American Free University hosted a master class titled “Designing an Individual Path of Professional and Personal Development: From Assessment to Developing a Project Concept.”

The speaker was Andrey Alexandrovich Tyorov, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences and Associate Professor at the Institute of Continuing Education of Moscow City University (Moscow, Russia). The event was attended by university students, faculty members, and guests.

At the beginning of the master class, Andrey Tyorov invited participants to recall what they already knew about individualization and discuss how it differs from an individualized approach to education. Particular attention was paid to the question of who is responsible for individualization at a university and what role an individual plays in this process.

The main part of the meeting consisted of a practical task focused on designing one’s own future. Participants were encouraged not only to discuss the concept of individualization but also to apply it to their own professional and personal development.

During the master class, participants recorded key concepts and ideas, analyzed their experiences, and reflected on what they had learned. A special individual development path card was used for this purpose. Each participant could identify their goal for attending the master class, formulate questions on the topic, record new concepts, and, at the end, outline their own “future track” and three subsequent steps.

The master class continued the discussion of individualization that Andrey Tyorov had initiated at KASU the previous day, September 28, as part of the International Scientific Congress “The Future of Science and Education: International Experience, Innovation and Leadership.” The previous session focused on the individualization of education, tutoring support, and the active role of participants in the educational process. During the master class, participants were encouraged to move from discussing the concept to applying it in practice by reflecting on their own goals, opportunities, and next steps in their professional and personal development.
