KAFU International Leadership Academy Visits Trout Farm in Eastern Kazakhstan
On June 1, 2026, participants of the International Leadership Academy, organized by the Kazakhstan-American Free University (KAFU) in partnership with Co-Serve International (Portland, USA), visited the Asanov Trout Farm, one of the most well-known fish farming enterprises in Eastern Kazakhstan.
The family-owned farm, operating as LLP “Shygys Universal” and widely recognized under the Foreluka brand, is a successful example of modern agribusiness development in the region. The visit was part of the Academy’s educational program, designed to introduce participants to outstanding examples of entrepreneurship, leadership, and sustainable development.
During the visit, guests learned about trout farming practices, modern aquaculture technologies, and the organization of production processes at the enterprise. One of the highlights of the trip was a boat tour across the picturesque waters where the farm’s fish-breeding sites are located.
The excursion provided students with the opportunity to observe the entire production cycle and gain firsthand insight into the management of a large-scale fish farming operation. The farm’s director, Vyacheslav Borisovich Asanov, shared the story of the family business, its growth and development, and the key principles that have guided its success.
Participants engaged in discussions on entrepreneurship, leadership, teamwork, and corporate social responsibility, while also having the opportunity to ask questions and exchange ideas.
The visit to the trout farm offered young leaders valuable practical experience and served as a vivid example of how initiative, dedication, and long-term vision can create sustainable projects that contribute to the economic development of the region and the well-being of local communities.
