KAFU Students Participated in a Critical Thinking and Fact-Checking Training

On July 23, 2026, students of the Journalism educational program at Kazakhstan-American Free University, Yuri Matvienko and Yerassyl Marat, took part in an educational training session focused on developing critical thinking and fact-checking skills. The event was held at the American Corner of the A.S. Pushkin East Kazakhstan Regional Library.

The training was organized by the Tauan Public Foundation. The speakers were experts from Pavlodar, Maral Aitmagambetova and Evgeny Khabarov, who introduced participants to the basic principles of information verification, methods for identifying fake news, and tools for analyzing media content. The session also covered common forms of information manipulation and ways to recognize them.

Participants completed practical assignments, applying the knowledge they gained to real-life examples. The training helped the students strengthen their critical analysis skills and gain a deeper understanding of the importance of fact-checking in today’s information environment.
