Lectures and exercises on preparing for earthquakes were held at KAFU as part of World Civil Defense Day

On March 1, as part of World Civil Defense Day, the Kazakh-American Free University, together with the East Kazakhstan Emergency Situations Department, held a lecture and training exercises on behavior in the event of an earthquake. This important event reminded us of the need to be prepared for emergencies and know how to act to protect ourselves and others.
What we learned:
Knowing an Evacuation Plan: Each of us should know what to do in case of an earthquake. Where are the exits from the building, where to go and what to do after evacuation – this is extremely important information.
Safe places: Learned how to choose safe places in case of an earthquake. These may be open spaces or secluded areas within a building where the risk of injury is minimal.
Behavior during an earthquake: We discussed what to do during an earthquake: get down, cover up and hold on. These actions can save lives.
The Emergency Situations Officer also conducted training exercises and gave an algorithm for behavior after the earthquake.

It is important to follow the instructions of the relevant authorities and remain in a safe place until the situation is clarified.
