Practice of the Gestalt Approach in Psychological Counseling

On November 1, 2023, 3rd year students of the educational program “Psychology” within the discipline “Fundamentals of Psychological Counseling”, worked with a practical psychologist-consultant, Gestalt therapist Svetlana Rybalkina who presented the features of the Gestalt approach to counseling during a practical lesson.

Gestalt therapy is a method of psychotherapy that promotes the spread of consciousness and, while relying on it, an individual is achieving greater intrapersonal integrity, fullness and meaningfulness of life, improving contact with other people and the outside world.

During the group work, the participants used the mechanisms of interrupting contact, demonstrated a  psychological consultation followed by a process analysis, as well as a group discussion with a discussion of phenomena in the consultation.
