The 10th Regional Olympiad in the History of Kazakhstan among 11th-grade students “The Turkic World: Past, Present and Future”
On April 24, 2026, the Kazakh-American Free University hosted the 10th Regional Olympiad in Kazakhstan History for 11th-grade students. The competition was titled “The Turkic World: Past, Present, and Future,” and was timed to coincide with the 35th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s independence.
The event was organized by the Department of Law and International Relations.
The Olympiad aimed to deepen students’ knowledge of Kazakhstan’s history and culture, develop analytical thinking, and foster interest in the historical heritage of the Turkic world. As part of the competition, participants completed tests and logic problems, answered oral questions (a “live” question), and solved a thematic crossword puzzle. The tasks covered a wide range of topics, including medieval, modern, and contemporary history of Kazakhstan.
Eighty-five 11th-grade students from comprehensive schools in the East Kazakhstan Region participated in the Olympiad.
The following prizes were provided for the winners::
• I place — educational grant from the President of KAFU, Academician Yerezhep A. Mambetkaziev;
• II place — 25% discount on tuition at KASU (two prize-winning places);
• III place — 10% discount on tuition at KASU (three prize-winning places).
Following the results of the Olympiad, the prize places were distributed as follows:
I place – Amina Aidynkyzy (ShoqanUalikhanov school-lyceum # 3);
II place – Yerassyl Daurenuly (Oralkhan Bokey Kazakh secondary school);
II place – Alima Nurlanova (school-gymnasium№10);
III place – Nargiz Okassova (Oralkhan Bokey Kazakh secondary school);
III place – Kirill Yelnikov (school-lyceum №34);
III place – Malika Ibraimova(K.Nurgaliyevschool-lyceum №43).
