“The Language of Harmony”: Translation as a Path to Mutual Understanding
On September 29, 2026, as part of educational and extracurricular activities, a translation marathon titled “The Language of Harmony: Translation as a Path to Mutual Understanding” was held for fourth-year students of the Translation Studies educational program (American Program).
The event focused on translating social slogans and culturally marked expressions. Students worked with examples that required not only accurate linguistic translation but also an understanding of the cultural context, communicative purpose, and emotional impact of the original text.
The work with social slogans generated particular interest. Participants analyzed their content, stylistic features, and target audiences, and then proposed their own translation versions. Special attention was paid to preserving the original meaning, imagery, and impact on the target audience in translation.
The translation marathon allowed students to apply their professional skills in a practical setting and once again demonstrated that translation is not only about working with words, but also serves as an important tool for intercultural communication and mutual understanding.
The event was held in an active and creative format, providing future translators with an opportunity to demonstrate their language competence, creativity, and awareness of cultural aspects of communication.
