The results of the courses within the framework of the US Embassy project

From January 11 to April 27, 2023, within the framework of the project funded by the US Embassy “Developing school-based mediation teams as a way of preventing conflicts and forming a tolerant behavioral culture” for students and teachers of schools in the East Kazakhstan region, 4 online courses were held:

  • “Psychological foundations of school mediation” – teacher Fedorova Irina Alekseevna.
  • “Legal foundations of mediation” – teacher Kalenova Aksana Alexandrovna.
  • “Restorative practices as a method of resolving conflicts in US schools” and “Emotional Intelligence” – lecturers – foreign teachers from the USA Ronald Wiley, Jeanine Wiley  and Daniel Bellast.

For four months, teachers and students from 37 schools in the East Kazakhstan region improved the level of knowledge and practical skills in the field of school mediation.

At the end of the course, the project coordinators, teachers of the Department of Law and International Relations, candidate of legal science Gavrilova Yuliya Alexandrovna and doctoral student PhD Tazhiyeva Marzhan Nurbekovna conducted a final survey among students to assess the quality of the courses, as well as develop proposals for improvement of training.

The results of the survey showed a high level of satisfaction with the content of the material presented, as well as a sufficient formation of core competencies in the field of conflict resolution in the educational environment.

All students – 248 teachers and 86 students from schools of eight districts of East Kazakhstan region received certificates for successfully completing courses within the framework of the project ” Developing school-based mediation teams as a way of preventing conflicts and forming a tolerant behavioral culture”!
