Translation and Foreign Languages ​​in the Global Dialogue of Cultures

On April 11-12, 2025, the III All-Russian scientific and practical conference with international participation “Translation and Foreign Languages ​​in the Global Dialogue of Cultures” was held in a mixed format at St. Petersburg State University. About 40 students, master’s students and postgraduates from China, Serbia, Azerbaijan, Russia and Kazakhstan took part in it.

The conference organized the work of 5 sections: “Russian Language in Intercultural Space”, “Professional Linguodidactics”, “Current Issues of Rhetoric, Speech Culture and Media Discourse”, “Language. Intercultural Communication. Mentality”, “Translation, Translation Studies and Linguacultural Studies”.

A fourth-year student of the “Translation Studies” educational program, Arina S. Kartashova, spoke at the conference under the scientific supervision of Valentina V. Gersonskaya, senior lecturer of the Foreign Languages Department, with a report on the topic of “Transfer of Linguostylistic Features of Craig Thompson’s Graphic Novel “Blankets” in Translation from English into Russian.” Following the conference, a collection of articles, “TRANSLATION AND LANGUAGE INTERACTION IN THE CONTEXT OF CULTURAL DIALOGUE” (published by St. Petersburg State University, RISC) will be published.
